  7. SETBOARD COULDN'T PROGRAM THE EEPROM...
  8.  
  9.   "SETBOARD couldn't program the EEPROM on your Above Board. Call Intel's
  10.   Customer Support Hotline at the phone number listed in your Above Board
  11.   manual."
  12.  
  13.   This error can occur because of the following:
  14.  
  15.   ■    An accelerator board or other conflicting board
  16.   ■    Running SETBOARD in some i386-based computers with on-board
  17.        caching enabled
  18.   ■    A bad Above Board
  19.  
  20.   To figure out the cause, follow these steps:
  21.   
  22.   1.   Remove all other boards that could conflict with the Above Board,
  23.        boot from a clean DOS diskette,  and run SETBOARD again. If
  24.        running in an i386-based computer make sure ROM Caching or Shadow
  25.        RAM functions are disabled while running SETBOARD.
  26.  
  27.   2.   Install the Above Board in another computer to make sure it works.
  28.  
  29.   3.   Contact Intel's Customer Support BBS for the latest SETBOARD.EXE
  30.        program (if you have an earlier version).  Please note the type of
  31.        computer you're using and the boards you've installed.
  32.  
  33.   NOTE:     If the Above Board 286 returns the Unable to program EEPROM
  34.             message, check for "gunk" on the gold fingers of the board's
  35.             bus connector.  After you clean the fingers with an eraser,
  36.             the EEPROM should be programmable.

  38. SETBOARD WON'T RUN AGAIN
  39.  
  40.   Some computers use I/O address 208 for either the disk controller or the
  41.   display adapter.  The Above Board is shipped with the I/O port address set
  42.   to 268, but when you run SETBOARD, Automatic Setup changes the address to
  43.   208 (for early versions of SETBOARD) or 258 (for more recent versions of
  44.   SETBOARD) to avoid possible conflicts with other Above Boards.  If another
  45.   board already uses the address SETBOARD chooses, SETBOARD won't be able to
  46.   find the Above Board the next time it's run.
  47.  
  48.   If this happens, you'll have to either:
  49.        A) Move the Above Board to another computer, run SETBOARD to
  50.           select another I/O address, and then put Above Board back in the
  51.           original computer.
  52.        B) Or, remove the card the Above Board is conflicting with, run
  53.           SETBOARD change the I/O address of the Above Board, then reinstall
  54.           the conflicting card.

  56. SETBOARD "SERIAL NUMBER NOT FOUND"
  57.  
  58.   If you receive this error, check the following:
  59.  
  60.   ■    If you're using an 80286-based computer, make sure the Above Board
  61.        is in a 16-bit slot, and make sure the PC Selector plug isn't
  62.        installed.
  63.  
  64.   ■    If the Above Board was previously installed in another computer,
  65.        re-install it in the original computer and run SETBOARD again.
  66.        You can also try disabling conventional memory on the system board
  67.        and then running SETBOARD.

  69. SETBOARD DOESN'T SEE AB
  70.  
  71.   SETBOARD Versions 1.20 and earlier don't recognize the Above Board Pluses
  72.   and display an error message indicating you don't have an Above Board in
  73.   your computer.  The Above Board Plus originally shipped with SETBOARD
  74.   version 1.30.  The current version of Setboard is available on the Intel
  75.   BBS, or you can contact Intel Customer Support.
